For the first time, Portikus is showcasing an exhibition by students of the Städelschule. The dates and places of birth cited in the title refer to the exhibition's oldest and youngest participants.

The Staatliche Hochschule für Bildende Kunst was founded as an academy in 1817 by an endowment of the Frankfurt citizen Johann Friedrich Städel. The alliance existing until the beginning of the 20th century with the Städelsche Kunstinstitut is carried on today in a different form in Städelschule's funding of Portikus, founded in 1987.

Currently, 154 students visit the Städelschule being taught by 10 professors. Far more than half the students, 96, stated their intent to participate in the exhibition. In order to accommodate such a large number, an organisational scheme had to be developed. The students were subdivided into 12 groups according to their signs of the zodiac. A binding topic was not given. The groups dealt with this task in various ways, either by jointly working on one topic, by choosing a common form of presentation for their works, or by simply opting to work individually.

Most of the works were created for this occasion. The form of presentation is in clockwise sequence of the zodiac signs, without, however thematizing this formal criterion.

Each participant additionally had the opportunity to design a double page in the accompanying catalogue. The pages in the catalogue do not necessarily correspond to the pieces shown at Portikus.
