Helke Bayrle has filmed the installations of exhibitions at Portikus since 1992. The website www.portikusunderconstruction.de makes Helke Bayrle’s entire archive available to the public. 

Helke Bayrle’s films go beyond the documentary. A playful and thought-provoking working process tha creates various short films from hours of material characterizes her practice. Her films are subjective, intimate observations of artists’ personalities and of the creative process of individual installations. It is the continuity of her practice and the openness of her approach that make Helke Bayrle’s films unique. In each one, she follows a different logic as demanded by the situation at hand.
 

Taking place from 19 to 23 October 2022, in parallel with the Frankfurt International Book Fair, Portikus Art Book Festival is a project of exhibition, workshops and public lectures that aims to highlight the work of independent and international art book publishers, to share and exchange on contemporary practices of creating artists' books, magazines and multiples.

A collaboration with the Bureau des Arts Plastiques (BDAP) and the Franco-German Youth Office (DFJW/OFAJ)
