PORTIKUS UNDER CONSTRUCTION
Helke Bayrle has filmed the installations of exhibitions at Portikus since 1993. This DVD edition compiles 53 videos with more than 67 artists and 53 exhibitions of the years 2001 to 2008. The films exceed the documentary. They are subjective and intimate observations of artists’ personalities and of the single installation processes. It is the continuity of her practise and the openness of her approach that make Helke Bayrle’s films unique. The filming happens in correspondence with each situation, always following a different logic. In a personal and reflective manner, this material is later concentrated into short films.
